Alignment Vision and Inspection System

The Alignment Vision System features a Cognex 5200 vision processor and video mixer card. A custom-built "split beam" illuminator ensures consistent, even lighting of all board surfaces, regardless of color. The system performs three important functions:

• Alignment: Using fiducial points or any lead, the pattern recognition processor properly aligns each board or component prior to dispensing;
• Dot Check: The system inspects three trial dots for size and proper amount of solder paste or epoxy prior to dispensing;
• Pattern Inspection: The system inspects the amount of solder paste or epoxy at a given location by comparing dispensed material to a master program
